Tailorly ("we," "us," "our") takes your privacy seriously. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and how we protect it.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly:

Account data: email address, name, and password (hashed — we never store plaintext)
Resume content: the text of your master resume and any tailored versions you generate
Job preferences: target roles, location preferences, and search criteria you configure
Usage data: tailoring counts, plan type, and subscription status

We also collect limited technical data automatically, including IP address, browser type, and pages visited, for security and performance purposes.

2. How We Use Your Data

To provide and improve the service (job matching, resume generation, quota tracking)
To send transactional emails (account verification, password reset)
To detect and prevent fraud or abuse
To comply with legal obligations

We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not use your resume content to train AI models without your explicit consent.

3. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored in Supabase, a managed PostgreSQL database service with row-level security. All data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. Authentication is handled via Supabase Auth with industry-standard JWT tokens.

We apply the principle of least privilege — each user can only access their own data.

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

Supabase — database and authentication
Cloudflare Pages — website hosting
OpenAI / Azure OpenAI — AI text generation for resume tailoring
Job data APIs — aggregated public job listings (JSearch, RemoteOK, Remotive, We Work Remotely)

Each provider operates under its own privacy policy and data processing terms.

5. Cookies and Local Storage

We use browser sessionStorage and localStorage to maintain your login session and UI state (e.g., plan tier, resume status). No tracking cookies are set. We do not use any advertising or analytics cookies.

6. Your Rights

You may at any time:

Access your data by logging into your account dashboard
Delete your account by contacting us at hello@tailorly.com — we will delete all personal data within 30 days
Export your resume text from the dashboard at any time
Correct inaccurate data via your account settings

7. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you close your account, we delete your personal data within 30 days. Anonymized aggregate usage statistics may be retained indefinitely.

8. Children's Privacy

The service is not directed at children under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email or a notice on the site. Continued use after the updated effective date constitutes acceptance.
